Every (straight) man's dream

Wed Mar 21, 2007, 7:40 AM
People have looked at my photos and told me that I'm living every man's dream. Beautiful women let me take nude photos of them; And I don't even have to pay them or buy them anything. lol

I'm proud of some of my stuff. Most of it. But really, that stuff seems pretty meaningless sometimes.

A lot of the time.

I'd rather have something meaningful, and no nude photos.

Much rather.

Oh Little Girl...

-No comments please, I just needed to write and my personal blog has become an inappropriate place to write stuff like this.-

You know, I get the same thing. People telling me that shooting nudes is "every man's dream." The thing is, I'm usually so focused on the shoot (getting the lights, angles, DOF....making sure the foot isn't JUST out of frame....and WHERE did that HAIR come from across the nose??? Wait!!! Did you smudge your lipstick???? And....holyschitt, it worked "click").

Errrm, I usually don't even notice how stunning the models ARE until I get the film/file in the darkroom/photoshop, lol.

The thing is, nude photos have a LOT of meaning. Incredible forms and lines that aren't found anywhere else in nature (both male and female nudes, BTW, I just haven't done any male nudes yet).

There is also the questioning of Madison Ave body image nonsense (why IS it that there aren't more nudes of black models.......or Mongolian models.....or models whose body shapes don't conform to advertising norms).

Whenever you photograph, you are making SOME sort of political statement (whether conscious or unconscious). With nudes, you are choosing to show something that is usually hidden in society, and by THAT very act, you are making a statement (many, in fact).

Do what your gut draws you to and put meaning on it later. Work from the heart, and let the head explain afterward :-). Your work DEFINITELY has meaning :-).
